WebJan 18, 2024 · Cysticercosis refers to the tissue infection caused by the metacestode, or larval stage, of Taenia solium. It is acquired by the accidental ingestion of T. solium eggs. It is endemic to many parts of the developing world, including Latin America, Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa. WebCSF profiles are composed of normal or high CSF opening pressure and increased numbers of white blood cells (generally not exceeding 100 cells/mm 3, but exceptionally more than 1000 cells/mm 3) with eosinophils predominating. CSF protein is mildly elevated but usually does not exceed 100 mg/dL.
