If you want to use longer rods, you will need pistons to match (383 pistons). If you don't have any parts on hand other than the block, I would suggest just buying a 383 3.75" crank, that way the mains will already be set up for the 350 block.

WebFeb 4, 2008 · IMO, the 383 is the best dollar per horsepower SBC out there, which makes it one of the (if not the) best dollar per horsepower engine there ever was. Fuel mileage will not be adversely effected vs the 350. Things like cam, carburetion, and driving style will have a lot more effect on mpg's than displacement.
